Fun.
Fun is an indie pop group out of New York City formed in the early part of this century. The band is made up of Nate Ruess, who used to sing for The Format, Andrew Dost, and Jack Antonoff, formerly of Steel Train. Their first album came out in 2008 and has used the power of the internet to expand their brand and gain a following.

The first single off their album, which was "At Least I'm Not as Sad" was given away as a free download on MySpace to any person who signed up for Fun's mailing list. This was a win-win situation for the band and its fans, where the fans got something for free and the band was able to gain new followers who may not have been previously familiar with their music. They also later also released a holiday song for free to fans on Fun's Facebook page. The band's success is a testament to the power of internet marketing.
After playing some solo gigs, Fun began opening for some large scale tours. In early 2010, they were part of Jack Mannequin's tour and in April 2010, they joined Paramore's headline tour, which also includes the band Relient K. These events will continue to expand Fun's fan base as they are exposed to a new, wider audience who is not familiar with their unique melodies and sound.
If you are looking for a band with a new sound, with some theatrical elements to their arrangements, you should consider seeing them live, either with their current Paramore tour or later on in whatever event they may be participating in.
