G. Love & Special Sauce

 G. Love & Special Sauce is a uniqu hip-hop band with an alternative flair that hails from Philadelphia.  The name "G. Love" refers to Garrett Dutton, who is the band's lead singer.  The members of the group that make up "Special Sauce" are Jeffrey Clemens, Mark Boyce, and Timo Shanko.  The group first started up in 1993 and they released their first album a year later.  Their single "Cold Beverage" was quite popular and led to the group gaining a place in the HORDE tour in 1994.

 Over the next few years, the band released a few more albums while working with some disagreements among the members about the financial aspects of the group.  During this time, they toured extensively to support each album.  They got a big break in 1999 when they were named as the band for the show "Turn Ben Stein On," which lasted for three years.

G. Love also released some solo projects that were successful.  They group returned to working together to release an album in 2008.  One of the band's greatest commercial successes came when their version of "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" appeared in a Coca-Cola commercial that had widespread play.

G. Love & Special Sauce continue to tour and their fans find that their live performances are often better than anything they have recorded in the studio.  Often today singers cannot perform well live because their albums are so over-produced, but the real, raw, natural talent of G.
