Pat Benatar
Few female artists can evoke the memories of the 1980s than Pat Benatar. One of the premiere pop singers in the 1980s, her hit songs still get heavy airplay on 1980s music channels, as well as at dance clubs. Among her top hits were "Love is a Battefield," "Heartbreaker," "We Belong" and "Hit Me with Your Best Shot." The last song also had some experience in commercials as well. Although some may consider her just a 1980s singer, she remains one of the top female artists of all time in terms of record sales. She has had 19 Top 40 singles, quite a feat for a female solo artist.

In addition to her music success, she also holds a place in music television lore. She became the first female artist to have her video shown on MTV when they played "You Better Run." It was also the second video ever to be played on the network. Unlike some artists of that genre who have disappeared from the music scene, and what seems like the face of the earth, Pat Benatar has maintained a role in the music world since the 1980s. Although not received like her earlier albums, she steadily released new material throughout the 1990s. In 2008, she released a great hits double album called "Ultimate Collection."
After the release of her greatest hits album, she toured with Blondie on the "Invincible Tour." She has also been working on a book which will be a memoir of her life in the music industry. She has also made numerous appearances on television, including The Young and the Restless and her music has been used in critically acclaimed movies and even the cartoon television show South Park.
Benatar is touring again this year with REO Speedwagon. If you want to soak up some 1980s nostalgia and see her concert, check out the tickets on ConcertKing.
The great catchy pop music that permeated the 1980s is back into mainstream, thanks to a resurgence of pop stars from that era like singer Pat Benatar. Still one of the most accomplished female solo artists of all time, Benatar has regained popularity and her fans are happy to see her touring once again. Although she never truly left the music world and never retired from singing, she was not in the public eye as much because that is just how the ebb and flow of musical popularity goes.
A very popular 1980s group has also resurfaced with new music and new public appearances. That group is REO Speedwagon who have been making music since the late 1960s. Like many other bands, their popularity rose to an extremely high level in the 1980s and they had many top singles and top selling records. However, being fickle like music audiences are known be, fans stopped appreciating the band's music and the band fell out of favor. Lately, however, perhaps as part nostalgia and part recognizing the good music of an era gone by they have again regained some of that fame that they once had.
Interestingly enough, Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon are touring together. This is a great combination of 1980s music that will make fans of either, and just fans of the 1980s, very happy that they attended the concert. They will also be adding a more modern sound to their tour with the appearance of singer Edwin McCain. Best known for his song "I Do," McCain has continued to make great music since that time, although not reaching the same level and popularity and success as at the height of that single. While he is not a 1980s musician, fans who attend the show will certainly enjoy his style of music as well, as it has a lot in common with Benatar and REO Speedwagon. For tickets to see all three of these great artists in one place, check out the tickets here on ConcertKing.
