Playboy Jazz Festival
When you hear the name "Playboy" typically you think of the magazine or the videos put out by the Playboy Enterprises that feature scantily clad women. However, unbeknownst to some people, Playboy Enterprises also puts on a yearly music festival. Called the Playboy Jazz Festival, the event features great well-known jazz musicians, as well as up and coming jazz artists. Many great jazz players have gotten a lot of much needed exposure from this event.

The event first took place in Chicago in 1959 and then went on a hiatus until 1979 when it took place in Los Angeles. It has been held there every after that. In addition to all the great jazz music that you can hear during the festival's two day extravaganza, you can also see comedian and actor Bill Cosby, who has been the festival's emcee nearly every year since 1979. For those people who are unable to attend, the festival is also broadcast on the local jazz public radio station in Los Angeles.
If you are a connoisseur of jazz music and want to spend a few days in the summer sun of Los Angeles, you should definitely consider attending the Playboy Jazz Festival. Not to worry, the fest is all about the music and has no real tie to the Playboy magazine other than the same ownership, so it is safe for children to attend. It was really borne out of a love for jazz music by Playboy founder Hugh Hefner who enjoys that kind of music above all others.

Jazz music really does not get its due in many parts of this country and this fest is one way to ensure that this genre is appreciated and preserved.
