Polar Bear Club

 Not to be confused with those crazy people that jump in the ocean during the winter, the Polar Bear Club is also a band.  They were first formed in 2005 in upstate New York, although they did not release their first official album until 2008.  The band can be described using several different genres of music and really try not to be confined to any particular genre.  Most commonly they are referred to as post-hardcore or indie rock musicians.  Post-hardcore refers to bands that were greatly influenced by the hardcore punk music, but whose music has diverted away from that to an extent.  In the case of Polar Bear Club, they also include more indie rock in their music that a typically punk rock band would do.

 Their first album was called "Sometimes Things Just Disappear" and came out in 2008 to acclaim and success.  Even more popular was their second album which was released in 2009, called "Chasing Hamburg."  With the promotion of this second album, it is becoming very clear that the band has very silly personalities and do not take themselves too seriously.  For example, they have official band photos where they are all dressed in tennis gear and posed in a funny way.  Not exactly how you would expect many rock bands to portray themselves.  This demeanor gives fans something else to love and appreciate about this up and coming band.
