Ted Nugent

 Ted Nugent is a musician that may be better known today for his political views and outspoken messages than for his music.  That was not the case when he first got started in the hard rock field in the 1970s.  He was known as a fantastic guitarist, one who was emulated and admired by legions of guitarists who came after him.  Born in Detroit, Michigan, he shares that hometown with other great rockers like Kid Rock.

 Some of the non-music related things for which Nugent is known is his strong anti drug and anti alcohol campaigning.  He is a spokesperson for DARE and encourages children to find things in their life that can give them natural highs rather than using illegal drugs or alcohol.  His love for children is also evident in the fact that he runs a camp for children that focuses on hunting and archery.  The theme of his camp is not too surprising, given that Nugent is also a staunch gun rights supporter.  He often speaks out on behalf of the NRA, of which is a Board of Directors member.

His views on gun control have led him to speak out strongly against President Obama in way that have shocked people, given the violent overtones he uses in his speeches.  While some people agree with him, he has lost many fans who admired his guitar skill, but do not like the way that he talks about guns, the current administration, and some other related issues.
